Get Ready for Something Good (Part 1 of 2)

Today’s article had been sitting in draft form, for a few months. When I completed the final version, it was the week of the Las Vegas shooting. In light of that tragedy as well as the recent string of hurricanes and fires, I hesitated before broadcasting the subject line: “Get Ready for Something Good.” However, as I considered this article’s message — having an even approach and dealing with the reality of current problems while inviting, preparing for, and working for good — it feels especially relevant, both in our individual lives and in our world. As always, I’m interested in hearing your thoughts. Read more

Regroup, Refocus & Recharge

Time to Regroup

During a recent conversation with my Connecticut mastermind group,1 one of my coach friends described having several potential opportunities in play. Investing her time and energy in multiple directions was making her feel scattered and unfocused. By the end of the conversation she concluded: I need to take a breather right now and get grounded and back in balance. In hearing herself say these words, she knew what she needed to do. That’s the value of tapping into your inner circle – people who will listen, hear what you’re saying, and give honest and helpful feedback. Read more

Wipe The Slate Clean

January 1 brings up mixed feelings. Sometimes the cookies would still be warm, having been added to the jar straight from the oven.  They were round like a biscuit but spongy on the inside, and lightly brown on the outside with a dusting of confectioners’ sugar.   Boy, were they good! Expanding Your Horizon

Winter Stirrings

Last January, I shared with you my intention to set goals for the year with a bit less structure, allowing my vision to guide me in a more intuitive fashion, with an emphasis on flexibility.  The winter that followed was full of stirrings and events that underscored the intention I had set.  I had a calm feeling, however, that the stirrings would somehow move me forward.  I didn’t know what they meant – just that a shift was occurring. What Do You Intend?

(#5 of 7) from the series: Does Positive Thinking Really Work?

Intention Guides Your Actions

A mother was preparing to have a conversation with her 9-year old daughter.  She wasn’t happy about having to discipline her.  “How do you want your daughter to feel after the conversation?” I asked.  She was quiet for a moment and then answered, “Loved.”  Later she told me that the question I had asked helped her approach the conversation differently, with her larger intention in mind (rather than being more concerned with making her point).
